Creating Spaces Campaign

Excellent child care is extremely hard to find in our booming city, and the problem is getting worse. High quality, accredited child care is a gift to children and parents fortunate enough to find it.

You can help us share this gift.

Like you, we are acutely aware of the urgent need of parents for high-quality child care. The recent loss of programs and spaces in our city has made a bad situation worse.

We are committed to help working parents in our community by creating new, accredited child care spaces. We are doing this in two ways: by expanding our existing programs; and by working to open new child care centres as soon as possible.

It takes a lot of resources to create new child care spaces and programs. Alberta Children's Services estimates that it costs between $5,000 and $10,000 to create one new child care space in the province.

The need for your support of these programs increases every day.

The City of Calgary estimates that, between 2006 and 2016, the number of children from birth to age nine will grow by 49,700. This will significantly increase demand for child-based services, including high-quality, accredited child care.
